Introducing photographer Francois Visser

Francois Visser is interested in daily life, people and overlooked moments; in the beauty that can be found in the mundane. His works exists at the confluence of documentary, portraiture and landscape photography, and is imbued with a strong narrative sensibility. Shooting with analogue cameras, and embracing the chance element of the medium, Francois’ images capture the transient encounters and conversations he has whilst travelling to far-flung and unfamiliar places. Born in Cape Town, Francois grew up in the Eastern Cape. In 2017 he presented a solo exhibition of photographs at THK Gallery with an accompanying artist book titled Interlude. Francois’ work has been featured in Wired Japan, Wanted, Karu, Nataal, Vogue.com, The Plant magazine, Christy Dawn and Sleek magazine.
